Privacy and children
Last updated 30 October 2026
Hedge is used by young people, so it's built with the ICO's Age Appropriate Design Code (the Children's Code) in mind. The short version: Hedge doesn't collect personal data.
What stays on the device
Timer sessions, acorns, room items, chosen exams, class group names and settings are saved only in the browser's local storage on the device being used. They're never sent to us or anyone else. Clearing the browser's site data, or tapping Delete everything in Hedge (More tab), removes them. Download my data saves a copy as a file.
What we don't do
- No accounts, sign-up, names or email addresses for students
- No analytics, tracking, advertising or profiling
- No cookies
- No requests to other companies: no external fonts, scripts or embeds
- No notifications, streaks, guilt messages or other nudges
- No location, camera or microphone access. Ambient sounds are generated on the device.
- No chat or contact with other users
Calendar files and links
Calendar (.ics) files are made on the device and saved like any download. Links to exam boards' timetables open the board's own site only when tapped, and that site has its own privacy policy.
Our web host
Like any website, the server that delivers Hedge's pages sees technical details such as the IP address in order to send pages. We don't add analytics and we don't use these details to identify anyone.
When an adult buys Pro
Purchases are made by an adult (18+) on Stripe's checkout. Stripe processes the payment, and Rhinehart Studio receives the payer's name, email address, billing address and a payment summary, but not full card details. We keep these for accounting and to reissue restore codes, as required by law and to perform the contract. See Stripe's privacy policy. No information about the student is collected.
Who's responsible
Rhinehart Studio (sole trader, UK). Email hello@rhinehartstudio.com. You can ask what we hold about a buyer, ask us to correct or delete it, or complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
